数学与计算科学学院位于中山大学南校区，前身是始创于1924年的中山大学数学系。目前，学院下设两个系（数学系、统计科学系）和五个研究机构（计算科学实验室、数学研究所、计算科学与计算机应用研究所、复杂系统研究中心、华南统计科学研究中心），拥有数学、统计学两个一级学科并形成了具有鲜明特色的优势学术领域。学院现拥有一批教育部“长江学者”特聘教授、国家杰出青年基金获得者等在国内外有一定影响力的教授和学者。
